The tour

A Taste of Tórshavn

Discover Tórshavn the way locals do—through its flavours and stories. We wander between harbour sheds and grass-roof lanes, stepping into cafés, bakeries, and tucked-away spots where tradition meets today. Along the way, you’ll hear how the islands’ wild weather, close-knit communities, and resourceful kitchens shaped what Faroese food is—and why it matters.

On our “Food Tour – A Taste of Tórshavn”, we see exactly this: guests discover that traditional Faroese dishes are not just about taste, but about survival, culture, creativity, and community in a remote North Atlantic environment.

When people hear the stories behind fermented lamb, dried fish, or freshly baked bread, the flavors take on a whole new meaning. It’s always inspiring to watch how food becomes a bridge into culture, belonging, and empathy.

You’ll finish with new favourites to eat, a handful of great photos, and a deeper sense of the city—ready to keep exploring on your own.

Come hungry and open minded and leave with precious memories.

A Taste of Tórshavn

This tour was phenomenal. It’s a must-do, and I highly recommend trying to book it as one of the first things you do upon arrival. It was the perfect intro not just to the excellent & diverse cuisine of the Faroes, but also to the streets and modern history of Torshavn. My highlights were the island-brewed beer & cider, handmade chocolates, and fermented lamb on bread made from scratch. The pace of the walking and the eating was good – not too much, not too little. And most of all Heðin was a warm, funny, and knowledgeable guide.

We had a wonderful time on our 3 hour Food Tour! We enjoyed eating a variety of local foods and learned about the people who made them. Walking the streets of Torshavn was a great way to experience the city. Our guide Marjun gave us information about the Faroe Islands and answered our questions about the history, government, and people. We highly recommend this tour!

This was an amazing tour. It was not only a great way to explore Torshavn but also a way to get to know some AMAZING food and drink of the Faroe Islands. We ended up going back to several of the places we visited the next days they were so good! Must do!
